ใช่ โมดูลนี้รองรับ Digital Optical Monitoring (DOM) หรือ DDM ซึ่งช่วยให้สามารถตรวจสอบระดับพลังงานแสงส่ง-รับ อุณหภูมิ และแรงดันไฟฟ้าแบบเรียลไทม์ ช่วยให้ผู้ดูแลระบบสามารถตรวจสอบสุขภาพของสายไฟเบอร์ได้ล่วงหน้า

โมดูลนี้ใช้งานร่วมกับสวิตช์ Cisco Catalyst, Nexus และ ASR ที่รองรับพอร์ต SFP ได้ทันที โดยเฉพาะรุ่นที่รองรับ 1000BASE-SX หรือ SFP transceiver ทั่วไป

รหัส = ท้ายโมดูล (เช่น GLC-SX-MMD=) หมายถึงสามารถสั่งซื้อเป็นอะไหล่แยกได้ หรือ spare part ซึ่งต่างจากโมเดลที่ไม่มี = ที่ต้องสั่งซื้อพร้อมกับอุปกรณ์หลัก

ได้ โมดูลนี้รองรับการใช้งานกับไฟเบอร์ 62.5/125 ไมครอน โดยสามารถส่งสัญญาณได้ไกลสูงสุด 220 เมตร ซึ่งเป็นมาตรฐานที่ระบุไว้ในเอกสารทางเทคนิคของ Cisco

ต้องใช้สายไฟเบอร์ออปติกแบบ Multimode (MMF) ขนาด 50/125 หรือ 62.5/125 ไมครอน พร้อมปลั๊ก LC duplex ซึ่งเป็นมาตรฐานทั่วไปในเครือข่ายองค์กร

ได้ในหลายกรณี โดยเฉพาะหากอุปกรณ์รองรับ DOM หรือไม่ต้องการฟีเจอร์ตรวจสอบสภาพแสง อย่างไรก็ตาม โมดูล GLC-SX-MMD มีฟีเจอร์ DOM ที่เหนือกว่า จึงแนะนำให้ใช้ในระบบที่ต้องการการตรวจสอบสุขภาพเครือข่าย
