ใช่ สายชนิด Active Optical Cable (AOC) ต้องมีแหล่งจ่ายไฟภายในเพื่อทำงาน ซึ่งจะถูกจ่ายผ่านพอร์ต HDMI ทั้งสองข้างโดยไม่ต้องเสียบปลั๊กภายนอกเพิ่มเติม

ได้แน่นอน รองรับความละเอียดสูงสุด 8K@60Hz และ 4K@120Hz จึงเหมาะกับโปรเจกเตอร์ 4K หรือ 8K ที่ต้องการส่งภาพคมชัดและลื่นไหล โดยเฉพาะในงานนำเสนอหรือดูหนังความละเอียดสูง

สาย AOC ใช้เส้นใยแก้วนำแสงและมีวงจรไฟฟ้าภายในช่วยขยายสัญญาณ ทำให้ส่งได้ไกลถึง 10 เมตรโดยไม่เกิดการรบกวนหรือสูญเสียคุณภาพ ส่วนสายทองแดงจะมีข้อจำกัดเรื่องระยะทางและสัญญาณรบกวน

ไม่จำเป็นต้องใช้ HDMI 2.1 เท่านั้น แต่เพื่อใช้ฟีเจอร์สูงสุด เช่น 4K@120Hz หรือ VRR จำเป็นต้องใช้อุปกรณ์ปลายทางที่รองรับ HDMI 2.1 ด้วย
