Product description

The TP-Link MC100CM is a network media converter designed to efficiently connect 10/100Mbps LAN cables (RJ45) to Multi-mode fiber optics via SC ports. It supports IEEE 802.3u standards, enabling data transmission up to 2 kilometers, ideal for network installations in buildings or areas requiring reduced electromagnetic interference. The converter supports Full-Duplex and Half-Duplex modes with IEEE 802.3x and Backpressure flow control to prevent packet loss during heavy data transmission. It works seamlessly with the TL-MC1400 mounting kit and features clear LED indicators for power and link/activity status.

More features

  • Uses only 2.4W power, energy efficient
  • Supports Auto MDI/MDIX on RJ45 port, no cable swapping required
  • Features LED indicators for PWR and Link/Act status for immediate operational monitoring
  • Operates reliably in temperatures from -40°C to +70°C, suitable for both hot and cold environments
  • Supports IEEE 802.3, 802.3u, and 802.3x standards, compatible with general networks

Pros and limitations

Pros

  • Supports up to 2 kilometers transmission distance using Multi-mode fiber optic cable.
  • Consumes only 2.4W of power, saving energy and reducing heat.
  • Supports Auto MDI/MDIX, no need to swap LAN cables.
  • Features clear LED indicators for status monitoring.
  • Works immediately with the TL-MC1400 mounting kit for easy storage.

Limitations

  • Does not support Gigabit Ethernet.
  • Requires an external power adapter.
  • No SFP port or web-based management.

Who it is for

Ideal for organizations or data centers that need to extend LAN networks over long distances using multi-mode fiber optic cable, especially in areas with high electromagnetic interference or where minimizing signal loss over long distances is critical.
