Key features

  • Converts 10/100Mbps RJ45 signals to single-mode SC fiber optic.
  • Uses WDM technology to send and receive data over a single fiber, reducing fiber cable costs by half.
  • Supports up to 20 km distance on 9/125μm single-mode fiber.
  • Operates at 1550nm (transmit) / 1310nm (receive).
  • supports automatic Half/Full-duplex setting

Product description

TP-Link MC111CS is a network media converter designed to convert signals between LAN cables (RJ45) and fiber optics (SC), supporting IEEE 802.3u standards 100BASE-TX and 100BASE-FX. It uses WDM technology to send and receive data over a single fiber, reducing fiber installation costs by half. It supports a maximum transmission distance of up to 20 kilometers (12.5 miles) on 9/125μm single-mode fiber, operating at 1550nm for transmission and 1310nm for reception, enabling immediate compatibility with other devices supporting opposite wavelengths, such as TP-Link MC112CS. This converter can be used either as a standalone unit or installed directly into the MC1400 equipment rack.

More features

  • Supports UTP Cat. 3, 4, 5, and 5e cables up to 100 meters.
  • Can be used as a standalone unit or installed in TP-Link MC1400 equipment rack.
  • Features LED indicators for PWR, FX Link/Act, and TP Link/Act status.
  • Supports both STP and UTP cabling per EIA/TIA-568 standards.
  • Consumes only 2.49W power with an external adapter.

Pros and limitations

Pros

  • Uses WDM technology to reduce fiber cable costs by half.
  • Supports up to 20 km distance on single-mode fiber.
  • Works immediately with MC112CS, enabling unlimited network expansion.
  • Easy installation using an external adapter, no internal power wiring required.
  • Supports UTP Cat. 3-5e cabling up to 100 meters.

Limitations

  • Does not support 1Gbps data transmission.
  • Requires a paired device with the opposite wavelength (e.g., MC112CS).
  • Power is supplied via an external adapter, not directly connected.

Who it is for

Ideal for organizations needing to extend long-distance networks over fiber optics, such as branch offices, factories, or CCTV systems requiring long-range data transmission without installing two fiber cables.
