  • Supports Auto-MDI/MDIX cabling on RJ45 port
  • Operates in standalone or MC1400 rack-mounted configurations
  • Supports Auto-negotiation in both Full-Duplex and Half-Duplex modes

Product description

TP-Link MC200CM is a network device designed to convert signals between copper LAN (RJ45) and multimode fiber optic cables via SC/UPC ports. Supports IEEE 802.3ab for 1000BASE-T and IEEE 802.3z for 1000BASE-SX, enabling bidirectional data transmission at up to 1 Gbps. Uses an 850nm wavelength for signal transmission, supporting a maximum distance of 550 meters with 50/125 µm fiber or 220 meters with 62.5/125 µm fiber. The converter supports Auto-negotiation in both Full-Duplex and Half-Duplex modes and features Auto-MDI/MDIX on the RJ45 port, allowing immediate connection without crossover cable selection. Includes LED indicators for PWR and Link/Act status for real-time monitoring.

More features

  • Uses 850nm wavelength for signal transmission
  • Features LED indicators for PWR and Link/Act status
  • Consumes only 1.66W of power
  • Supports IEEE 802.3ab and IEEE 802.3z standards
  • Easy installation—no rack or additional accessories required

Pros and limitations

Pros

  • Supports a maximum distance of 550 meters using multi-mode fiber.
  • Easy installation—no rack or additional accessories required.
  • Supports Auto-MDI/MDIX crossover, enabling plug-and-play operation.
  • Features clear LED indicators for status monitoring.
  • Consumes only 1.66W, making it energy-efficient.

Limitations

  • Requires an external power adapter; no PoE port is available.
  • Does not support fixed full-duplex mode (requires Auto-negotiation).
  • The SC port size may be inconvenient if cables need frequent replacement.

Who it is for

Ideal for extending LAN networks over long distances in offices, factories, or data centers by converting RJ45 copper signals to fiber optic for transmission up to 550 meters without replacing core network equipment.
