Product description

The TP-Link SM311LM module is a cost-effective solution for long-distance network connectivity, supporting 1.25Gbps data transmission over multi-mode fiber optic cable using 850nm light. It can transmit signals up to 550 meters with 50/125μm fiber or up to 275 meters with 62.5/125μm fiber, making it ideal for installation in medium-sized buildings or data centers where cable length reduction is required. The module supports hot swapping and features DDM (Digital Diagnostic Monitoring) for real-time monitoring of operational status. It is compatible with SFP ports on TP-Link switches such as the T3700, T2700, T2600, T2500, T1700, T1600, T1500, 2/3/5 Series, and Media Converter MC220L

More features

  • Compact size: 2.2 x 0.5 x 0.5 inches (55.4 x 13.7 x 12.9 mm)
  • Uses 3.3V power, energy efficient
  • Supports IEEE 802.3z, CSMA/CD, TCP/IP standards
  • Easy installation with included manual
  • Operates within 0–70°C, suitable for real-world environments

Pros and limitations

Pros

  • Supports up to 550 meters transmission distance using 50/125μm fiber
  • Features DDM for real-time operational status monitoring
  • Compatible with multiple TP-Link switches without additional configuration
  • Compact size saves space in SFP slot
  • Supports hot-swapping without system shutdown

Limitations

  • Designed for use only with devices that support SFP ports
