Product description

The QNAP TS-832PX-4G is an 8-bay 3.5-inch hard drive NAS designed for office or small business use, where high data access speed is required. It features the AnnapurnaLabs Alpine AL324 64-bit ARM Cortex-A57 quad-core processor running at 1.7GHz and 4GB DDR4 RAM (expandable up to 16GB), enabling simultaneous operation for up to 700 users via the CIFS protocol without latency concerns. It also includes 2x 2.5GbE and 2x 10GbE SFP+ network ports for fast file sharing and backup, especially when used with high-speed networks. Additionally, it has a PCIe Gen2 x2 port for installing expansion cards such as the QM2 for adding SSD Cache or Wi-Fi 6 cards, enhancing performance in flexible, high-demand environments.

More features

  • Smart data management with Qtier™ and SSD Caching for automatic performance optimization
  • Supports Cloud Storage Gateways and HybridMount for seamless cloud integration
  • Advanced security with centralized Notification Center and Security Counselor

Pros and limitations

Pros

  • Supports high-speed networking with 2.5GbE and 10GbE SFP+ for fast file sharing.
  • Features a PCIe port for expanding functionality, such as SSD cache, Wi-Fi 6, or additional network cards.
  • Supports QM2 cards for up to 64 Gbps SSD caching (Gen3 x8).
  • Automatic data management with Qtier™ and SSD Caching for optimal performance without manual configuration.
  • Seamlessly supports cloud connectivity via Cloud Storage Gateways and HybridMount.

Limitations

  • 4GB of initial RAM may limit performance under heavy workloads unless upgraded.
  • Does not support M.2 SSDs directly; a QM2 card is required to add features.
  • Large physical size, requiring adequate space for placement.

Who it is for

Ideal for offices or small businesses needing efficient centralized data storage, high-speed file sharing, and expandability through PCIe cards such as Wi-Fi 6 or 10GbE network cards.
